Canon LUCIA™ Inks

Engineered to improve print quality Canon Graphic Arts systems featuring LUCIA inks deliver a wider color gamut for exceptional print quality. LUCIA inks are formulated to minimize graininess, improve scratch-resistance and prevent “bronzing” (that unwanted sheen that occurs when viewing output from different angles and/or under light), while enhancing color-fastness and fade resistance.

Canon Reactive Ink Technology: When precision is paramount

When precision is critical, Canon’s breakthrough 5-color dye/pigment Reactive Ink technology makes all the difference. Canon imagePROGRAF Corporate and CAD series printers feature an ink technology developed specifically for printing detailed business documents and engineering applications (CAD/GIS) with fine lines, small text, detailed graphs and tables. This unique formulation
improves the ink’s adhesion to the media and minimizes color “bleeding”. The secret is in the chemistry of the ink. When the black ink intersects with a colored area (for example words printed on a colored background) the black and cyan inks cause a chemical reaction that prevents the black from bleeding into the colors. As a result, you get clearer text, smoother curves and sharp fine lines, even on uncoated technical papers. What’s more Canon Reactive Inks also improve scratch and marker resistance so prints are more durable than when printed with conventional dye inks.

 
 

 

Epson UltraChrome K3™ ink technology

Represents a turning point in the history of inkjet printing. Inspired by our past generations of pigmented ink technology, Epson's 8-color ink set incorporates three unique levels of black, which along with new color pigment technology, dramatically improves both color and black and white prints. Imagine producing archival prints with amazing color fidelity, gloss level, and scratch resistance, while providing stable colors from the moment prints exit the printer.

Incorporating high density pigments, Epson UltraChrome K3 produces prints with an extremely wide color gamut allowing the reproduction of colors that were originally envisioned at the point of capture. With its expanded color gamut and breakthrough 8-color system, no other ink set can reproduce the three dimensional lifelike quality and stunning photographic feel of Epson UltraChrome K3.

Utilizing a unique three level black ink technology, Epson UltraChrome K3 ink significantly improves overall gray balance while enhancing midtone and highlight detail yielding a smoother tonal range. And by virtually eliminating metamerism and bronzing, both black and white and color prints can be produced with the look and feel of a traditional photograph while utilizing all the advantages of a digital workflow.

Epson UltraChrome K3 ink incorporates High-gloss Microcrystal Encapsulation™ Technology along with unique screening algorithms and Light Light Black ink that significantly reduces gloss differential. There is no longer any compromise for professionals that require glossy prints that have excellent longevity and durability.

With two different black ink modes - Photo Black and Matte Black - Epson UltraChrome K3 provides an innovative solution to optimize the black ink density for various media types. Photo Black ink can be used for all media types with professional quality results. The optional Matte Black ink significantly increases black optical density when printing on matte and fine art type papers. This innovative solution enables the use of just one printer for all media types.


Epson UltraChrome HDR Ink: Opening a new era in colour performance

Even though Epson Stylus Pro printers with Epson UltraChrome K3 offered a wide colour gamut and colour accuracy, Epson UltraChrome HDR (High Dynamic range) ink takes inkjet colour performance to an entirely new level with the addition of green and orange inks. This is particularly true in the vivid green to yellow and yellow to red portions of the colour space. Grass and foliage will be much more vivid and natural, and orange tones like sunsets will be more dazzling. Photographers will be delighted to see that the orange ink also reduces the graininess in skin tones.

Having improved inkjet printing quality with Epson UltraChrome K3 ink, Epson once again raises the standard for pigment ink performance with Epson UltraChrome HDR.

In addition to the eight colours previously offered, Epson UltraChrome HDR includes green and orange inks, providing a significantly larger colour gamut, along with the ability to print vivid green and orange tones. Furthermore, Photo Black and Matte Black ink cartridges can both be installed. As the name Epson UltraChrome HDR implies, this new ink set provides a much wider colour tonal range, which means higher colour accuracy, greater colour subtlety and smoother tonal gradations.
