Giclée Media Supplies announces the new Kings of Colour
Canon imagePROGRAF iPF8300, iPF6350 and iPF6300.

In the imaging world there is only one dominant player - Canon. While others might have a better camera body or photocopier from time to time there is no substitute for economic power. For this translates into the ability to manufacture ones' own unique technology.
While Canon invented the inkjet printer, it was clear that Epson took advantage in the high quality Photographic and Giclee market segment with the Epson Stylus Pro9600 in September 2002. It took until 4 years later - a lifetime in technology terms- for the Canon imagePROGRAF iPF5000 to emerge, a machine that wrested image quality from Epson in the 17 inch segment.
In that intervening 4 years there have been more than 20 new Canon models and now we have the new iPF6300, iPF6350 and iPF8300. These are not just mild work-overs of the previous 12 color machines but are equipped with the all new Lucia EX inkset, that have superior color gamut and at least equal Dmax to almost all other competitors.
The gamut superiority appears very pronounced in the areas needed most -. Matt Natural Rag papers.
Legion Paper, the USA's largest distributor of fine art paper and the owner of the Moab brand which GMS distributes in Australia, has now published ICC color profiles for the iPF6300 and iPF8300 that can be directly compared to previous machines, in particular the Epson 9900. The very large color gamut increase, over just about all areas of the spectrum including deep sky blue and intense yellow, is profound.
The new Lucia EX inksets' superiority to fine art users is unchallengeable.
While the advantage over Epson's Ultrachrome HDR decreases as the gloss level increases, there is no mistaking that the huge advantage the new Canon iPF8300 and Canon iPF6300 have, when reproducing intense acrylic colors from paintings. That is a direct consequence of Canon remaining economically strong during the GFC and investing money into pigment ink research.
There are other new features to this new family of printers, e.g. new user replaceable printheads and upgraded firmware (that now allows the name of third party media to be displayed).
However, if you are an artist or photographer there is only one salient fact to consider:-
When it comes to a combination of colour gamut and Dmax there is now an outright winner at any price - Canon Lucia EX Ink. Prejudice should be replaced by unbiased spectral analysis and human eyesight.
At PMA 2010 GMS will have the new Lucia-EX inkset machines on display printing color charts and images on the most challenging papers for your comparison.
Behold the new Kings of Colour!

PMA Printer Special Offers – No Cashback required!
PMA (PMA Australia 2010 Digital Life Expo Melbourne Convention Centre) is in Melbourne this year from June 4th 2010 to June 6th 2010. GMS has a stand, number 314 in the center of the building with the new Canon iPF6300 and iPF8300 on display.
Last year the response to the Canon Cashback offer and GMS discounts for the iPF6100 was overwhelming. Today many photographers can now print their own high quality images assuming full creative control. Many new canvas printing businesses were started using the well tested Canon iPF8100 44 inch machine.
So GMS is releasing the PMA specials early this year to avoid the rush of last year. They include the well tested Lucia range of iPF printers (5100, 6100, 8100, 9100) and the new high color gamut Lucia EX models - 6300, 6350, 8300. The Lucia EX machines are industry leaders in their fields and come with the users' choice of fine art materials.
The special will continue until our stocks last and no time consuming cashback documentation is required to claim this offer.
